Rhomoids are easily found (at Melt we call them train tracks). Follow this class: see if you can find the knots, it’s easy.

Describe the texture of the nots to each other – this is much harder to do but will give you a better understanding of the knots you’re feeling.

Everbody has knots hidden wihtin the train tracks.

SECRET TIP: feel closer to the scapula (along the ridge of the wing bone) they’re more pronounced on that side. Harder to find the closer you get to the spine.

  • Why are they called train tracks?

    Melt uses word association to help you identify knots

    • They feel like train tracks when you massage over them
    • Sometimes it’ll even sound like you’re driving over train tracks
  • Why describe the texture of a muscle?

    Knots tell a story!

    • Dry and depleted knots are gritty and grainy.
      • They can feel like guitar strings
      • Dry knots love deep tissue
      • Usually long standing / chronic complications
    • Thick / distended knots feel inflammed
      • Often caused by an injury
      • Will hurt to touch
      • Can feel hot
      • Usually recent
      • Does not like massage / irritated
    • Juicy / pliable knots
      • This feels healthy
      • Rich in blood
      • They love all types of massage!
  • Does massage help poor posture?

    Absolutely!

    • The quality of the muscle / knot will be compromised
    • Massage helps increase blood flow
    • Also aid recovery
